Ashtanga Yoga-
A Dynamic & Active practice that involves pairing breath to movement. Ashtanga is a sanskrit word that refers to an Eight Limbed path to achieving Union (Yama, Niyama, asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana,Dhyana & Samadh). Asana is the intentional movement and holding of the body in postures and Pranayama is the awareness of breat and moving the life force in and out of the body.
An Asana flow Typically includes a warm up, active postures - to encourage strength, endurance and connection-, a cool down & a final resting pose. AN AshTanga flow normally has vinyasa flows and postures that are well known, like Sun salutaions, warrior two, tree pose, and down dog.
Yin Yoga-
A gentle, slower paced practice where postures are usually held ufor up to 2-5 minutes. People Practicing are encouraged to find their own “edge” in every pose—to work and become curious of the limitations of their own bodies. Longer held asanas target the deep tissues, and allows the fascia to open and the nervous system to come back to equilibrium. You will learn to surrender, find comfort in the uncomfortable and release stagnant energy, trapped emotions, and tension.
This style of practice sets you up to find comfort and safety with the body. Most often postures are accompanied with props; bolsters, blankets, pillows or blocks.
You could lay down in stillness and focus on your breath the entire practice, and you would still be “doing” yoga
Yoga not only improves your physical & mental strength, balance and flexibility but also boosts mind & body connection and gratitude.
The personal practice encourages mindfulness through stillness and movement. Yoga gives you the opportunity to find connection and oneness with your mind & body and the world around you. You will learn to listen and to trust your bodies needs and show up for it accordingly.
By moving your body and connecting to your breath, you will build of self awareness and feel a sense of peace and connection on and off the mat.
You will gain tools that will be accessible to you at all times, to generate more positivity in your life.
